[Responsibilities]
We are looking for a self-driven and experienced Supplier Manager with rich buying experience in the FMCG industry. In this role, you will be responsible for planning category strategy, product selection, buying, vendor management, negotiation, production performance management, and marketing. You will also manage the performance of our portfolio of everyday essentials like fresh produce and groceries, snacks and confectionery, personal care, and household products, with full P&L responsibility across categories. Together with the Operations team, you will deliver a full selection of items with innovative service and technology that offers consumers a great experience with speed and quality.

The job description:

  • Own the vendor / supplier management and negotiation process, category planning strategy and product selection.

  • Full P&L responsibility for all categories and subcategories, including planning, forecasting and driving growth of revenue, margin, wastage & other supplier income.

  • Negotiate with suppliers periodically and distributors/ wholesalers for the best terms and maintain good relationships with suppliers and distributors/ wholesalers.

  • Develop and execute optimal category strategy, pricing, promotions, range, availability, and cost prices to expand both sales and margin

  • Work to develop sourcing and SKU range for store launch to ensure we have high quality, good value goods available to our customers year-round

  • Employ data-driven decision-making to drive categories

  • Identify industry trends and create innovative ideas that changes consumer's shopping behavior

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business needs, manage inventory levels and wastage.

[Requirements]
The ideal candidate would have the following qualities:

  • A leader with proven track record of successful negotiations, strategic thinking and project management skills

  • Good retail (CVS/supermarket) industry experience and understanding of the FMCG business having worked across multiple categories

  • Previous working experience and/or connections with FMCG/grocery wholesalers and/or suppliers a huge plus

  • Self-motivated and ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills

  • A sense of urgency, pragmatism and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving with an analytical mindset

  • Ability to balance priorities and multi-task, demonstrate common sense and be very detail-oriented while keeping an eye on the big picture

  • Outstanding communication and people skills

  • Knowledge of local legislations, industry and competitive trends

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and hands on attitude

  • Experience working in e-commerce related organizations, key account management is a plus

  • Proficiency with Excel and data analytics

  • Native Japanese skills required, business level English skills a plus
