[Responsibilities]
Main purpose of the job: To have a responsibility for the overall rental operation strategy and oversee the day to day running of the operation ensuring that the company standards, safe working practices and good housekeeping are maintained throughout all areas in the location whilst ensuring that customer requirements are fulfilled on schedule.

Summary of principle duties and responsibilities include:

  • Review, redevelop and execute overall rental operation strategy.
  • Ensure that overall work planning and resource allocation activities are undertaken to meet customer and/or internal relations requirements.
  • Ensure staffing levels and skills available are adequate for current and forecasted operational requirements.
  • Manage Technical Center facility incorporating demo and equipment maintenance areas.
  • Ensure all rental operation procedures are followed and kept in place.
  • Manage the Hub function in Japan including the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Manage Japan assets incorporating affiliated warehouse and be key contact for call outs.
  • Oversee the warehouse and surrounding premises, ensuring that they are kept clean and tidy and that the company's Health and Safety Policy is adhered to.
  • Manage the dispatch and return of equipment, ensuring that the relevant paperwork is completed.
  • Manage sub hire receipts and returns through Logistics Service team, ensuring that all hires are processed and returned on time and are correctly documented.
  • Liaise and ensure full co-operation with other departments/locations as necessary to ensure that customer's requirements and the operational targets of the company are achieved.
  • Manage department member's shift roster and attendance.
  • Recruitment and selection of Operation dept. staff in conjunction with HR as necessary.
  • Oversee new members of staff, ensuring they are supervised at all times and given the correct training in line with the company's Health and Safety procedures.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all department staff.
  • Manage and resolve any issues with equipment in a timely manner.
  • Manage through Production/Product Support team the ongoing maintenance and repair of equipment when required.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of tools, PPE, paperwork, labeling equipment, spare parts and any other items necessary.
  • Oversee stock control of consumables, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
  • Report missing and damaged equipment to the relevant Asset/Project/Account Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Keep Operations team up to date and aware of order information or changes that affect the location. Also procedures or company information.
  • Supervise and support project/event staff working in the location
  • Inform HR any staff issues arising.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality standards, policies, safe working practices, professional housekeeping and staff discipline.
  • Undertake on a temporary basis such additional duties as may be required periodically to meet company operating objectives.

[Requirements]

  • Previous experience at warehouse management level within a rental sales company.
  • Native speaker of Japanese. Not must but English abilities will be highly valued.
  • Methodical approach, accurate, conscientious with a good eye for detail.
  • Good understanding of LEAN process.
  • Good understanding of customer requirements.
  • Preferably a good understanding of the live event industry and/or rental operation process.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Understanding of procedures and scope of duties.
  • Capable of working to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to co-operate with others.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Ability drive performance and lead operational improvements.
  • Computer experience and a good understanding of stock control systems.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure.
  • High degree of personal drive.
  • Prepared to work additional hours when necessary.
  • Positive attitude to extra duties and new challenges
  • Ability to maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free environment.
  • Ability to adhere to the company's Health and Safety Rules.
  • Reliable with a good timekeeping and attendance record.
  • Ability to follow and undertake safe lifting practices as instructed.
  • Willingness to travel to event/project locations if required.
  • Willing to work additional hours at short notice, including weekends.
  • Experience of completing routine health and safety inspections.
  • Experience of driving forklift.
  • Driving licence.
