[Responsibilities]
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be part of our research team, and take on a role leading the research team focused on Japan investors and fund managers.
The team is primarily involved in researching and inputting data from various sources onto an online CRM database in an accurate and concise manner daily. The team will also build relationships with industry participants, such as investors, fund managers and service providers to encourage them to provide us with data or to clarify any discrepancies in the data. The role provides the exciting opportunity of being the product owner and manager of the coverage and health of our dataset, team and associated responsibilities.
The research team is responsible for the maintenance of our online databases and products, and have the opportunity to contribute to the production of our leading financial publications and provide analysis for ad hoc requests from our clients and the press when required. Upon developing alternative investment market knowledge and suitable experience, senior members of the team will be able to contribute to our house view as thought leaders of the alternative investment space.
Reporting to the Head of APAC Research, this candidate will be managing a team of 6 researchers, from assigning responsibilities to taking care of their welfare
Setting team goals and guiding the team to achieve these
Expanding the team in the future
Together with peers in APAC and our global offices, formulate and implement our research strategy
Work with colleagues from other divisions to understand client and internal needs, and direct the team to improve data in ways that are most impactful
Working with teams in other offices in ensuring coherence and accuracy of information flow into databases.
Using computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Excel and Power BI, to analyse large data sets and to control for quality and accuracy.
Working with external parties such as industry associations to craft partnerships with data contribution angle
Delivering presentations at industry conferences, meeting with clients to talk about the latest insights and research methodology
Candidate will be required to perform analysis and put together small reports for client or press data requests/commentaries on an ad-hoc basis.

At least 5-7 years of relevant working experience in finance/alternative assets, with 4 of these in a similar leadership role preferred.
Business fluency in English and Japanese required to communicate effective with global team and clients.
Education level - Bachelors' Degree.
