[Responsibilities]
Specific Responsibilities:
- This position reports to the Associate Director, Medical Affairs Inflammation, Japan.
- Primary responsibility is dual functionality for both field based and in-house based medical activities that include, but not limited to:
Field Activity
- Developing and establishing relationship with RA KOLs.
- Creating and leading training programs of Rheumatology / Immunology in collaboration medical managers and other functions as appropriate are expected.
- Regular communication with KOLs including investigators for clinical trials, as appropriate to provide medical guidance for the clinical trials and more extensive background, additional data or answers to questions in response to issues that arise relative to commercial, scientific or data needs.
- Obtain insight in field from various information sources and provide to other members. The information must be integrated and analyzed to be concise and clear.
- Work closely with our Medical Affairs and Medical information in responding to medical / scientific queries regarding our products.
- In close collaboration with medical managers, provide support and medical education for speakers of various educational events.
- Attend major conferences and helps coordinate medical affairs activities at conferences and may present to external audience. Also attend relevant therapeutic area training such as post-conference slide deck trainings.
- Support to maintain and further develop newest scientific knowledge and relevant communication skills.
- Plan and execute the TS trainings for the international congresses in collaboration with L&D.
- Other works are in close communication and collaboration with Japan Medical Affairs colleagues as well as the alliance partner, the MSL is responsible to provide scientific/medical guidance, throughout product life cycle.
Medical Manager
- Responsible for planning and execution of medical activities, such as medical education, publication and data generation, in alignment with POA and other strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with clinical development, regulatory affairs, public affairs, commercial and other functions to ensure our products are appropriately used with good understanding of product profiles and supporting scientific data.
- Regular communication with KOLs including investigators for clinical trials, as appropriate to provide medical guidance for the clinical trials and more extensive background, additional data or answers to questions in response to issues that arise relative to commercial, scientific or data needs.
- In collaboration with L&D department, support to maintain and further develop newest scientific knowledge and relevant communication skills.
- Attend major conferences and helps coordinate medical affairs activities at conferences and may present to external audience.
- Manage his/her projects to completion, anticipating obstacles and difficulties that may arise, resolving them in a collaborative manner.
- Ensure that all interactions and activities in Japan adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance guidance, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical and scientific information.
[Requirements]
Mandatory:
- The individual must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills both in Japanese and in English along with excellent judgment and ability to work in a team environment. Strong presentation skills are required.
- Hands-on involvement is a must (effective use of external resources).
Preferred skills and experience:
- The personnel for this position has a strong scientific background with industry experience, preferably medical affairs or R&D, in rheumatology or related therapeutic areas.
- Master degree or pharmacist is acceptable.
- Ph.D. and research experience is plus.
- Others may be acceptable, but stronger experiences or skills in relevant therapeutic area and / or medical function is generally required.
