We are looking for a highly skilled software back-end engineer specializing in Java who is able to design and implement large, complex distributed systems consisting of multiple components developed using different technologies, as well as deal with issues that arise in a production environment.

What you will be doing

• Code quality - has a passion for code quality, performing thorough code reviews and enforcing good coding standards, practices and tools
• Work for the team across several locations and time zones
• Good communication skills in English with both verbal and written
• Suggest improvements
• Agile - follows the ideas and principles of Agile software development practices and testing models, able to lead their team through Scrum ceremonies
• Technical design - ability to understand, produce and communicate technical designs to a team of engineers and product owners (producers), adhering to appropriate design patterns
• Ability to speak and understand the Japanese language is a plus

Essential requirements
Application Development

• 5+ years of programming experience with Java including object-oriented design
• 5+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Domain-driven design
• Test-driven development
• Full stack development
• Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Batch
• Java ORM & NoSQL - SQL, Hibernate, MyBatis and Redis, Memcached
• Git - maintaining large codebases through competing releases with minimum stress
• Microservices, Restful, NoSQL, Java, Spring, CI/CD
• Container development using tools such as Docker

Soft Skills

• Proactive team player
• Good communication skills
• Ability to Mentor/Coach other members
• Possesses an Agile mindset and can think out of the box

Preferred skills

• Automation of deployments, tests and releases using tools, such as Jenkins
• Monitoring and logging, knowledge of logging frameworks and troubleshooting all through the technology stack
• Unit and Integration testing using frameworks such as JUnit, DBUnit and Cucumber
• Automating UI testing using tools such as Selenium
• Process management and documentation using tools, such as JIRA, Confluence

Employment type

• Temporary Dispatch, 3-6 months contract with renewal
• Can be converted to full-time/permanent

Work arrangement

• On-site (3-4 days) and work from home (1-2 days)
