The Merchandising Manager is in charge of the whole product strategy of the company. At the core of the Marketing strategy, this person is responsible for product selection and buying, product strategy and development, competition analysis, sales forecasts and recommendations.
Collection Buying / Merchandising Planning / Pricing
・ Build the annual purchase planning for 55 department stores corners and 6 direct management shops. Regular products, Spring/Summer collection, Autumn/Winter collection.
・ Complete the seasonal MD strategy to make clear seasonal vision both internally and externally, to enhance brand image and to achieve sales goals.
・ Line-up analysis, discontinuation recommendations.
・ Develop a sales and trend forecast for product purchasing
・ Strive to reduce shipping costs and forecast products needs proactively to ensure maximum delivery by sea shipment.
・ Coordinate communication with overseas HQ in regards of shipping procedures, schedule and delivery of goods planning. Invoicing and packing list control.
・ In coordination with Retail Business Planning Manager, prepare allocation of new arrival products to each shop. Also to ensure optimal level of sell-thru rate, rebalance the seasonal products in a timely manner during each season.
Product development / competition analysis
・ Liaise with HQ to initiate product development for exclusive models in boutiques and department stores
・ Knowledge of competitors' new products and launching activities and feedback to HQ product marketing team and Japan Management.
・ Feedback on Japanese fashion trend to HQ and support for new products for Japanese consumers
Retail & Trade Support
・ Support training department with explanation of new collection to sales staff at the beginning of each season and participate in the elaboration of the seasonal product manual for shop staff.
・ Create a product information book based on HQ direction.
Forecasting / Stock control
・ In close coordination with Retail Business Planning Manager, manages the performance of product ranges, which involves analysis of sales results.
・ Prepare forecast of regular products and place re-orders.
・ Prepare the line edited and decide discounted price range for discontinued products after each season.
・ Bachelor's degree with 5 to 10 years work experience in Product Marketing, Merchandising, preferably in women's fashion or handbag field.
・ Good computer skills in Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook.
・ Strong written and oral communication skills in English is a must. (French is definitely a plus) (Strong preference for a Japanese native, with good command of English) - Keen interest in fashion.
・ Energetic and passionate about the brand and its growth.
・ Strong analytical skills
・ Team player but also able to work autonomously
・ Creative and able to deliver simple messages that prompts responses from consumers.
・ Flexible and reactive to issues and challenges arising from rapidly changing environment.
Full Time Employee
6M ~ 8M JPY (Experiences and skills will be considered)
