・Identify, define and promote a regulatory environment consistent with both business goals and business principles to ensure that the company can operate successfully and in a manner consistent with its beliefs.
・Engage with regulators to maintain and achieve a sensible excise regime that balances Government and Company expectations.
・Build and maintain company's external stakeholder relationships (e.g. politicians, government officials, NGOs, media, business, local community, employees and other key influencers).
・Manage company engagement process in line with strategic plan objectives.
・Play an integral role in ensuring company's management is kept informed about and prepared for the business impact of regulation.
・Provide regular updates to the business regarding potential regulatory opportunities and threats, and recommend and execute relevant plans.
・Support and help to grow solid relationships with the Institute of Japan and the Ministry.
・Working with the Institute, help to develop an approach that allows the industry to work together on key issues.
・Contribute to the above-market advocacy that company will undertake globally from time to time.

・Honours Degree/post-graduate degree
・A minimum of 10 years' experience in the national policy making environment , including the government sector and/or a substantial corporate affairs management role in a comparable commercial/FMCG organisation with a proven track record
・Demonstrated experience in government relations/regulatory affairs; additional experience in other communications related areas including media relations, employee communications, crisis communications, new media techniques etc. a plus
・Deep knowledge of tools/methods for Strategy and Planning
・Understanding of socio-economic and political environments, current thinking on globalisation, role and influence of NGOs, public policy-making processes and regulatory structures etc.
・Proven experience in international trade and advocacy
・Detailed knowledge of fiscal and excise-related issues
