PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The HR Business Partner is responsible for proactively leading all aspects of tactical HR support and advice for managers and employees within Japan. The HRBP will partner with the HR Director on identifying and executing strategic initiatives that will enable business performance i.e. talent management, engagement and performance and deliver the annual headcount/organization plan. The HR Business Partner also will partner directly with functional business teams and be proactive in working with People Managers to maximize people performance. The HR Business Partner understands the business beyond the HR function and influences the overall organization to ensure superior operations and business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. BUSINESS PARTNER

  • Advise functional departments on topics such as talent management, engagement and performance management.
  • Provide insight and analysis on people-related measures to guide and develop key people focus areas for the business.
  • Support and advise on the implementation of Global HR Tools.
  • Provide HR input for Business Planning processes.


2. TALENT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Collaborate with Line Managers to identify training needs. Based on this analysis determine quality training and development solutions.
  • Support the implementation of global training initiatives and tools, e.g. People Management Program, and Strengths Workshops.
  • Provide regional training aligned with the international offerings.
  • Advocate strength-based training and development philosophy.
  • Coaches People Managers for best-practice onboarding and partners with them to ensure it is properly implemented.
  • Drives the talent management agenda in conjunction with managers through the management of talent to ensure retention and development of individuals.


3. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Managing employment relations cases to provide a pragmatic solution for both the employee and business.
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation and manage compliance within the relevant frameworks.
  • Ensures that HR policies are communicated in a timely manner in line with local requirements.


4. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Coach managers on the Compensation philosophy and drive managerial empowerment through educated decisions.
  • Proactively provides information and insights on market data to support talent attraction and retention and identifies solutions to issues that may occur.
  • Help manages the annual salary and benefits review and administration process in conjunction with the HR Manager.
  • Ensures C&B practices comply with global guidelines and directives.


5. RECRUITMENT

  • Ensure a first-class recruitment and selection process experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
  • Partner with the hiring managers to ensure that accurate information is used for the recruitment process, thereby ensuring targeted and quality recruitment.
  • Conduct professional Performance/Strengths-based interviews (utilize Case Studies, Candidate Testing & Reference Tests).
  • Analyze the success and improvement areas of the recruitments in your perimeter to develop targeted recruitment initiatives if needed.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
University Degree (e.g.: Psychology, Law, Business…)

EXPERIENCE
1.5+ years of Business Partner experience, preferably working closely with senior leaders
2.Proven success in executing HR value proposition and strategy at a national level
3.Experience in identifying and analyzing HR and business data to recommend HR initiatives that will drive business objectives (i.e. growth)
4.Experience in facilitating workshops and training programs
5.Experience in briefing and working with external partners, ideally within training and development
6.Managing employment relations cases to provide a pragmatic solution for both the employee and business

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1.Ability to quickly build effective relationships, locally and across borders.
2.Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and stakeholders.
3.Ability to prioritize effectively and focus on multiple tasks and requests.
4.Excellent communication skills both in Japanese and English (written and oral), including presentation and training facilitation skills.
5.Systems knowledge including Microsoft and SAP (or relevant HRIS system).
6.Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
7.Ability to use judgment, initiative and common sense to make decisions, solve problems and find solutions.
8.Team player who is cooperative with sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
9.Ability to use deal with sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
