Associate Director ~ Director, Medical Affairs (Oncology)


Specific Job Requirements
・ This position reports to the Oncology head of Medical Affairs (MA) Japan.
・ The primary responsibility of Medical Affairs Associate Director/Director is to lead planning and execution for strategic data generation and various medical programs including, but not limited to, advisory boards, education programs, congress symposia, digital education and other programs in collaboration with other Oncology medical team members . Other expectations include supporting Oncology head of MA in creating Japan ISP (Indication Strategic Plan) and medical PoA (Plan of Action) , close communication and collaboration with Oncology MSs, Medical Affairs Stuffs of partner companies, HQ, and International especially Asia Pacific Region, providing scientific/medical input during the clinical trials, J-NDA review, launch preparation and post-marketing. Primary responsibilities are as follow:
・ Lead planning and execution of the Oncology TA PoA, including data generation, publication, medical education programs in collaboration with other Oncology medical team members and partners (if applicable) based on deeper Oncology knowledge with excellent logical planning skills.
・ Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in Oncology area to develop and conduct strategic medical activities. Thus, excellent learning agility is highly expected.
・ Work under the supervision of the Oncology head of MA to support managing and developing professionally MAs including hiring, training, evaluation, motivation, and disciplinary activities in alignment with the company's corporate strategies and objectives. Provide strong leadership to motivate MA team to achieve excellent results. Close collaboration with Medical Affairs Learn & Development (L&D) is also expected.
・ Involved in scientific communication with KOLs to provide medical input and more extensive background, additional data or answers to questions in response to issues that arise relative to commercial, scientific or data needs.
・ Collaborate effectively with clinical, regulatory affairs and commercial teams in multiple areas including publication planning, speaker education programs, regional advisory meetings, manuscript review. Especially excellence in launch preparation is indispensable, thus far, previous launch experience in Oncology area is critical
・ In collaboration with L&D department, support to maintain and further develop newest scientific knowledge and relevant communication skills among medical affairs staffs
・ Represent the Japan Oncology Medical Affairs teams as necessary
・ Ensure that all interactions and activities in Japan adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance guidance, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical/scientific information

Qualifications: Specific Education and Experience Requirements
・ The ideal candidate will have Advanced degree in life science (PhD, Pharm D, MD) with clinical and research experience in Oncology
・ Must have strong industry experience (+5 yrs) in Oncology area, Medical Affairs or R&D in Pharma Industry.
・ Logical thinking and planning skills are essential.
・ Excellent internal/external stakeholder management, communication in both Japanese and English, presentation, and time management skills required; must be adaptable and able to work well within a team and relate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
・ Experience in people management is very much preferred
・ Able to inspire a team to excel by fostering a climate of energy, excitement and personal accountability
・ Demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations
